Springfield Area Food Shelf
A Designated Super Shelf
We help people in need put healthy food on their tables. We serve the Springfield community and our entire southern Minnesota region.

Our
Story
Get to Know Us
The Springfield Area Food Shelf is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Since 2013 we have been working to feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, and reduce waste in our community and region. We distribute food from The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), food from our food rescue program, and food that is donated or purchased with donations. We deliver NAPS boxes (Nutritional Assistance Program for Seniors) to the elderly and provide children at school with food to take home through the Backpack program.
Our Mission
is to distribute food and provide emergency food services to people in need. We follow the Super Shelf model, which encourages healthy diets, supports diversity, and reduces waste.
One out of 8 individuals is food insecure, meaning they might not know where their next meal will come from. We help people in need get access to nutritious food and find relief from hunger.

Open Hours
We’re here solely to support people in need. You don’t need to provide an address, citizenship status, or proof of income to receive food. Proxy pickups are welcome—someone else can pick up food on your behalf if that’s easier.
